Limpet Earrings
Sterling silver limpet shells hanging from hooks, cast from real shells found on a local beach. A limpet is the shallow cone you find stuck to rocks along the Cape coast, ribbed from the peak outward. Cast in silver those ribs run down the shell like a fan, and because the shells hang free they turn and catch light along different ridges as you move. The cone shape means they sit away from the neck rather than lying flat, so they read as three dimensional in a way most drop earrings do not. Kinkel make a matching ring from the same cast. The limpet range is their plainest, which is either the appeal or the reason to look at the star limpet instead. We stock Kinkel in the shop on Oak Street in Greyton, and post anywhere in South Africa. The Jewellery is handmade per order. Orders will take between 6 – 12 business days (excluding shipping) to manufacture.
