Calico Earrings

Sterling silver calico shells hanging from plain hooks, cast from a real shell picked up on the beach. The calico is a small spotted seashell, and the mould keeps its banding and the slight asymmetry of the original. Cast in silver the pattern reads as texture rather than colour, catching light along the ridges as the earrings move. They hang rather than sit against the ear, so they carry a little movement. Light enough that you forget you have them on, which is not true of most drop earrings this size. These are the pair to reach for if you like the shell shape but do not want a pearl involved.
